Departmental Scholarship Process

Scholarships and Awards Received from Schools, Colleges, and UConn Departments

The Office of Student Financial Aid Services (OSFAS) is responsible for posting scholarships, awards, and prizes awarded through academic departments, the Alumni Association, etc. to a student’s University account. Students should be aware that all steps in the following workflow must be completed before the funds will be applied to their University fee bill.

1. Awarding department notifies the student that they have been selected for a scholarship, award, or prize.

2. Awarding department completes the necessary paperwork, and obtains all necessary signatures to process the scholarship, award, or prize.

3. Awarding department then submits the completed paperwork to OSFAS for further processing.

4. OSFAS then posts the scholarship, award, or prize to the student’s account. Note: Students receiving need-based financial aid (loans, grants, work-study employment) may have their financial aid package revised as a result.

Students anticipating a refund because of their scholarship, award, or prize should verify that a credit balance exists on their University fee bill via the Student Administration System (http://www.studentadmin.uconn.edu). If a credit balance is determined, the student may request a refund on the Bursar’s website http://bursar.uconn.edu.
